Rant: What it takes to be a witch

Being a witch in 2025 is no easy task. Modern witches are not getting burnt thankfully but, in many countries it is still a death penalty or prison. Just for being a witch.

Still if one is lucky enough or smart enough to evade authorities, the task doesn't end there.

Being a witch means you have to lie to everyone about your job. If you operate online, you need an extra front to show your bank or they will freeze your account. You need to hide your operation or your payment processor will freeze you as well. Given you still want to offer clients safe and secure payment methods, and since most people won't pay in crypto, you have to fake it for the banks. You have to put nonsense in your disclaimers, copy pasted legal words just for them to clear you.

After this and much more trouble, the handful still willing to do it, need to face a pre tarnished reputation by scammers and fakers, get investigated and even mistreated by people who need you more than you need them.

You still go "forgive them lord, they don't know what they are doing" and move on. To then practice your craft at the expense of your health, of your mental health, of your soul. Hearing sob stories all day every day. Being everyone's hope, everyone's rock without having one to yourself but yourself. Doing a physically and mentally draining work. Requiring constant focus for hours when most people's attention span is a few seconds.

And you still do it. Because at the end you f ing love it. Because it's your path, your call, your passion. Because each time you bend reality a part of you awakens. And it's a thrill that gets you addicted. We do it the same way extreme cavers do it. It makes no sense from the outside. The risk outweighs the reward. You're losing more than what you're getting, but to you, that feeling, that thrill, that moment of just being in it and then seeing it happen and knowing I did that. I birthed that outcome. That is what makes it all worth it.

That is why I exist. That is why I put up with all the nonsense and censorship and legal risk. For that moment of rebellion.
